NDC Condemns Alleged Bribery in Ayawaso East Primaries, Launches Investigations

February 7,2026

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned what it describes as widespread incidents of inducement and vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the NDC said its national executives had been alerted to allegations that some aspirants engaged in bribery to influence delegates during the primaries.

The party described the alleged actions as unacceptable and a clear violation of its core values and principles, as well as the reset agenda it is currently championing.

“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms, as they represent an affront to the values and principles of the party,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the NDC has immediately instituted a full-scale investigation into the alleged misconduct and assured members and the general public that swift action would be taken against any candidate found culpable.

The party further warned that stricter sanctions would be enforced in future elections, including the possible cancellation of polls, should similar incidents come to its attention.

The statement was signed by the NDC’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.

The development comes amid heightened political tension following the Ayawaso East primaries, with the party seeking to reinforce internal discipline and uphold the integrity of its internal democratic processes.
