Abuasi Branch Election Ends in Violence as Defeated Chairman Faces Counter-Allegations

July 4,2026

Another violent incident has been reported during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch elections in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency, this time at the Aboasi Branch.

According to eyewitnesses, the defeated Branch Chairman, Oscar Rockson, allegedly threw a stone at the Constituency Secretary, Emmanuel Idun, shortly after the election results were declared.

Witnesses claim the stone missed its intended target and instead struck the Branch Youth Organizer on the head, causing an injury.

Following the incident, some party members alleged that Mr. Rockson later claimed he had been assaulted by Mr. Idun. However, supporters of the Constituency Secretary have rejected the allegation, insisting that Mr. Idun did not attack the former chairman.

They further alleged that the accusation formed part of a broader effort by individuals identified as Amos and Attakora, whom they claim had earlier vowed to "do everything" to remove Mr. Idun from office.

The latest incident adds to a series of violent episodes that have reportedly marred the AAK NDC branch elections, prompting calls from party members for the Regional Executive Committee to investigate the disturbances and ensure accountability for any misconduct.
