First duel in the presidential race: Harris and Trump duke it out live

by Robin Feb 15, 2025

On the issue of abortion, one of the most heated parts of the debate, Harris and Trump sent a message to their own voters by putting forward their opposing views. Emphasizing that Trump is trying to take away women's right to abortion and that he does not have the right to do so, Harris gave the message that she will take clear steps on this issue if she becomes president.

The two candidates, who shook hands at the beginning of the live broadcast, listed different policy proposals during the sometimes heated debate, and differed significantly from each other, especially on the economy, abortion and border security.

ECONOMY At the beginning of the program, two people who mainly talked about the American economy argued that they had recovered the economy during their period, but that the other administration had disrupted the country's economy.

Explaining that she comes from a middle-class family, Harris once again expressed the details of the economic program she had previously announced. Noting that he plans to increase the tax deduction for newly established companies from $5,000 to $50,000, Harris stated that he will bring a tax deduction of up to $6,000 for families with children.

Explaining that they are working on serious incentives and tax breaks, especially for small businesses, Harris said that they also aim to help existing small businesses grow, and that they want to expand with low-interest rate ..

Explaining that he made it possible for him to return to the United States, Trump argued that Biden removed these tariffs as the first thing he did when he took office.

responding to Trump, Harris said, "Donald Trump left us with the worst unemployment since the Great Depression. "Donald Trump has left us with the worst public health epidemic in a century."

Responding to Harris, Trump stated that this is not true, that the economy and employment had very good data during his time, and argued that they did well during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reminding Trump of the report prepared by a Republican group called the "2025 Project", Harris argued that the articles written in the report had the potential to cause great harm to the United States, while Trump claimed that he had no relationship with the group in question.

At one point in his speech, Trump said, "He's a Marxist, everybody knows that. Her father was a Marxist professor, and he taught his daughter well.".

Blaming the Biden administration for the Ukraine war, Trump claimed that Harris had negotiated with Russian President Vladimir Putin 3 days before the war but failed to do so. Denying Trump's claim, Harris said she had not negotiated with Putin and had met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky several times.

Arguing that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours if he was elected president, Trump said, "I want the war to end and millions of people not to die. Biden has no idea how to talk to Putin. Nor does he have any idea how to stop this war. I will get this deal done before I even become president," he said. Stating that the main interlocutor of the situation in Ukraine is Europe and that these countries should pay more within the NATO alliance, Trump said, "Biden and Harris, you do not have the courage to ask Europe (increase the contribution) as I did in NATO."
