The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that it has seized and is currently managing several valuable assets connected to the ongoing criminal trial involving former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine other individuals.
The disclosure was contained in the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
According to the report, the confiscated properties are being held as exhibits in the case The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others (CR/0603/2025), which is currently before the Criminal High Court in Accra.
Among the major assets now under the OSP’s control are four fuel stations situated at Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, and Millennium City, all within Accra.
The Office also confirmed the seizure of cash amounting to GH¢951,995.56.
In addition, the OSP has taken possession of several parcels of land across the country, including:
Land in Tamale valued at GH¢9.93 million
Land in Haatso valued at GH¢2.737 million
Land at Danyame in Kumasi valued at GH¢4.766 million
Land in Adenta, yet to be assessed
The report further noted that a number of upscale residential properties in key Accra neighbourhoods have also been seized. These include a two-storey house at East Legon, valued at GH¢12.7 million, as well as luxury apartments located at Airport Residential Area, Boundary Road, Roman Ridge, and Adjiringanor.
Other properties under management include a six-unit residential block at Agbogba worth GH¢10 million, uncompleted apartment projects in Airport City and Roman Ridge, and 23 fuel tanker trucks.
In a separate but related development, the OSP disclosed that luxury vehicles valued at GH¢18.6 million have been seized as part of investigations into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF).
The vehicles include:
Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom
Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680
Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800
Toyota Land Cruiser LC300
Lexus LX600
Two Fiat bullion vans
The seizures come after criminal charges were filed against Dr Abdul-Hamid and nine others over an alleged scheme to extort more than GH¢291 million from companies operating in the petroleum industry.
Prosecutors claim that between December 2022 and December 2024, the accused unlawfully collected GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies despite having no legal authority to do so.
Those standing trial include both former and serving NPA officials, along with representatives of three private companies: Propnest Limited, KEL Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.
The matter remains before the High Court as the OSP continues its asset recovery and prosecution efforts.
