The U.S. Department of State has published the final country breakdown for the DV-2025 Diversity Visa Lottery winners, confirming Algeria as the leading African nation with 5,526 successful applicants.

Algeria edged out Egypt (5,515) and Sudan (5,505) by a slim margin, cementing its position as the country with the highest number of lottery winners on the continent.

Other top-performing countries include Ethiopia (3,674), Morocco (4,237), Democratic Republic of Congo (2,729), Togo (2,287), and Liberia (2,004).

Ghana secured 2,686 winners, keeping it among the top 10 African nations with the highest beneficiaries of the U.S. Green Card program.

At the lower end of the scale, some countries recorded single-digit winners, including Comoros (4), Namibia (5), and Eswatini (6).

The Diversity Visa (DV) Program, widely referred to as the American Lottery, provides up to 55,000 permanent resident visas globally each year, offering successful applicants and their families a pathway to live and work permanently in the United States.

Analysts note that the strong showing from North and West African nations highlights both the popularity of the program and the region’s consistent success in securing visas.
