Goldbod Donates Vehicles and Funds to Support Anti-Illegal Mining Efforts

Accra, Ghana – September 15, 2025

Ghanaian mining company Goldbod has made a major contribution to the fight against illegal mining, donating five Toyota Hilux pickup trucks and 5 million Ghana cedis to the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).

The handover ceremony, streamed live on social media, drew government officials, security personnel, and company representatives. Goldbod executives formally presented the vehicles and a symbolic cheque to NAIMOS leadership as journalists and camera crews documented the event.

Goldbod Chief Executive Sammy Gyamfi said the donation is intended to boost NAIMOS’s capacity to curb illegal mining commonly known as “galamsey” which has caused significant environmental degradation in Ghana.

“Protecting our natural resources is everyone’s responsibility. We hope these vehicles and funds will strengthen NAIMOS’s ability to monitor mining hotspots and enforce the law,” Gyamfi noted.

NAIMOS officials welcomed the gesture, emphasizing that the additional logistics and financial support will enhance rapid-response patrols, community engagement, and data-driven enforcement operations.

This partnership highlights how private-sector players can collaborate with government agencies to safeguard Ghana’s environment and promote sustainable mining practices.
