AC Milan and Inter Appoint Foster + Partners and MANICA to Design New Stadium

September 28, 2025

AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano have confirmed a major step toward their long-awaited new stadium project, announcing a collaboration with global architectural giants Foster + Partners and MANICA.

The agreement, unveiled on Tuesday, is contingent on the Milan City Council’s approval of the sale of the Great Urban Function San Siro. Once finalized, the two firms will lead the design of a 71,500-capacity venue, envisioned as a state-of-the-art arena at the center of a vast urban regeneration plan.

The project covers approximately 281,000 square meters and aims to blend innovation, sustainability, and social development. The stadium will feature two steeply inclined tiers to maximize visibility, top-tier accessibility features, and a range of affordable seating options.

Both firms bring extensive pedigree to the project:

  • Foster + Partners, founded by Lord Norman Foster, is world-renowned for designs such as Apple Park in California, the Millennium Bridge in London, and the Beijing and Hong Kong airports. In Milan, the firm has previously worked on Milano Sesto and other large-scale masterplans.

  • MANICA, led by David Manica, has delivered some of the most iconic modern sports venues, including Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas Raiders) and the Chase Center (Golden State Warriors). The firm is also behind upcoming stadiums for the Chicago Bears and Inter Miami CF.

The new Milan stadium is expected to become an architectural landmark, signaling a strategic investment in the city’s future while honoring its cultural and sporting heritage.

Initial concept design and project development will begin once the San Siro acquisition process is complete.
