February 1,2026

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended congratulations to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the successful organization of its presidential candidate primaries.

In a statement issued in Accra on February 1, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC praised the NPP for conducting a violence-free process that resulted in former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerging as the party’s flagbearer for the December 2028 presidential election.

The NDC also commended the Ghana Police Service for what it described as a remarkable and efficient role in securing the entire exercise.

“We take this opportunity to also commend the Ghana Police Service for the remarkable and efficient manner that they secured the entire process,” the statement noted.

The party further welcomed collaboration among all political parties, stressing the need for collective efforts to strengthen and deepen Ghana’s democracy.

Additionally, the NDC acknowledged concession statements made by unsuccessful aspirants in the primaries and expressed hope that such reconciliatory messages would be matched with action.

The statement underscores the NDC’s commitment to peaceful democratic practices and national unity as Ghana prepares for future electoral contests.
