The Volta Regional Health Directorate has confirmed the arrest of one of its drivers, Godsway Dogbey, for allegedly transporting suspected narcotics in a vehicle branded with the Directorate’s official markings.
According to the Directorate, the arrest was carried out by security agencies following intelligence-led operations that intercepted the vehicle while it was in transit. The suspect was reportedly driving a van assigned to the Regional Clinical Engineering Unit of the Ghana Health Service at the time of the arrest.
Authorities say the suspected narcotic substances were concealed and being transported without authorization, raising serious concerns about the misuse of state-owned vehicles for criminal activities.
The Volta Regional Health Directorate has distanced itself from the alleged actions of the driver, stressing that the incident was not sanctioned by the institution. Management has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough investigations and accountability.
The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, while further details are expected as the case progresses.
The Directorate also assured the public of its commitment to upholding ethical standards and safeguarding public trust in the health service.
