Young Man Brutally Attacked in Amosima Over Visit to Girlfriend’s Home
October 27, 2025
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Amosima in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District, when a young man identified as Stephen Aikins, popularly known as Kofi, was brutally attacked after visiting his girlfriend’s family home.
According to reports, Kofi, a native of Abura Dunkwa, had received a call from his friend earlier in the day requesting that he pick up a photograph belonging to Mr. Kwame Ampong, also known as Amazia, to be framed as a birthday gift for him.
At about 5:00 p.m., Kofi set off from Abura Dunkwa and arrived at Amosima around 7:00 p.m.Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by his girlfriend, Ketura, the daughter of Amazia, who invited him to spend the night at her home. Concerned about potential misunderstanding, Kofi reportedly asked whether his presence would cause any problems, but Ketura assured him that it would not.
However, the situation took a dark turn when Ketura’s mother, Lydia, suddenly appeared and restrained Kofi until her husband, Amazia, arrived armed with a cutlass. In a violent confrontation, Amazia allegedly attempted to slash Kofi’s head, but the young man raised his hand in defense, suffering deep wounds in the process.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that Amazia then called a friend, also named Kofi, to assist in the attack. Upon arrival, the friend questioned the reason behind Kofi’s presence and, after hearing his explanation, intervened to stop the assault. Amazia reportedly fled the scene, leaving Kofi bleeding profusely.
Injured and weak, Kofi struggled to the roadside seeking help, but due to the late hour and power outage, residents were afraid to assist. He eventually spent the night by the roadside, until a Good Samaritan, with the help of the Assembly Member of the area (popularly known as BBF), rushed him to the Moree Health Centre. He was later transferred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (Interberton) for further treatment.
Following the incident, Kwame Ampong (Amazia) turned himself in at the Moree Police Station, where he was taken into custody. His wife, Lydia, daughter Ketura, and two other household members have also been arrested to assist with police investigations.
The community has since been thrown into a state of shock and sorrow over the violent incident, which residents describe as “a sad and heartbreaking scene that could have been avoided.”
Police investigations are ongoing.
