Ghana Armed Forces Announces Major Recruitment Drive: 12,000 Personnel to Be Enlisted Over Three Years

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced an ambitious recruitment initiative aimed at significantly bolstering the nation's defense capacity, with plans to enlist 12,000 new personnel over the next three years.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, revealed the expansion plan in a social media statement on Saturday, emphasizing that the recruitment drive forms part of the government's comprehensive strategy to build a military force that embodies Ghana's strength, discipline, and unity.

The large-scale recruitment represents one of the most significant expansions of the armed forces in recent years, signaling the administration's commitment to enhancing national security infrastructure.

In a move to promote inclusivity and fairness, the government has reduced the cost of recruitment forms by more than 40 percent compared to the previous exercise. This reduction aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's pledge to make opportunities more affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians.

"This initiative reflects our commitment to affordability, accessibility, and fairness in national service," the deputy minister stated.

To ensure equal opportunity across the country, recruitment exercises will be conducted in all regions of Ghana, promoting national inclusion and geographical diversity within the armed forces.

Deputy Minister Genfi issued a strong warning to the public about fraudulent recruitment schemes, emphasizing that the process maintains strict integrity standards.

"Recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is NOT for sale—and will NEVER be for sale under our #EagleEyes watch. Any individual or syndicate involved in fraudulent recruitment schemes will be dealt with without mercy," he cautioned.

He also clarified that no legitimate recruitment activities will be conducted through social media platforms, urging prospective applicants to rely only on official channels.

The Ministry of Defence is expected to publish comprehensive information about the recruitment process within the week, including:

• Qualification requirements
• Application procedures
• Locations of regional recruitment centers
• Timeline for the exercise

This information will be made available through official channels, including the Ministry of Defence website, the Ghana Armed Forces website, selected newspapers, and other authorized electronic platforms.
