April 9. 2026
Relations between Ghana and France continue to grow stronger following high-level engagements at the One Health Summit in Lyon.
President John Dramani Mahama co-chaired the summit, where he outlined the objectives of the Accra Reset initiative within the broader One Health framework an approach that integrates human, animal, and environmental health.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Mahama held bilateral discussions with Emmanuel Macron and the President of the French Senate, engagements that further underscored the shared values and strategic partnership between the two nations.
In a major development, Ghana has been selected as the first beneficiary of France’s health compact, a move expected to enhance cooperation in healthcare delivery, systems strengthening, and sustainable health financing.
The engagements in Lyon highlight a renewed commitment by both countries to deepen collaboration across multiple sectors, particularly in health, economic development, and global governance initiatives.
The Accra Reset initiative, championed by Ghana, continues to gain international attention as a transformative agenda aimed at reshaping global health systems to better reflect the needs and priorities of developing countries.
