Ibrahim Mahama donates private jet for air ambulance service
April 3.2026
Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has committed his former private jet, a Bombardier Challenger 604, to be converted into a fully equipped air ambulance to support emergency healthcare delivery across the country.
The initiative follows his acquisition of a new aircraft, a Bombardier Global 6500, with the older jet now repurposed for a national life-saving intervention.
The aircraft departed Ghana on April 3, 2026, to undergo specialised modifications. It is expected to be fitted with advanced medical equipment, including life-support systems and critical care facilities, enabling rapid response to emergencies across the country.
The move has been widely praised as a significant private-sector contribution to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system, particularly in improving emergency medical transport and access to critical care.
