Smarteco Global Project Pushes for Climate Education in Basic Schools
March 27,2026
The Smarteco Global Project has called on the government to urgently integrate climate change education into Ghana’s basic school curriculum to address growing environmental challenges.
In a press release issued in Accra on March 27, 2026, the organisation stressed that early education is critical to equipping young learners with the knowledge, values, and practical skills needed to respond effectively to climate change.
The group urged the Ministry of Education Ghana to strengthen the national curriculum by incorporating comprehensive climate studies at the foundational level of learning.
According to the statement, introducing climate education at an early stage will help nurture a generation that is environmentally conscious and capable of adopting sustainable practices.
The organisation noted that worsening environmental conditions in Ghana have heightened the urgency for deliberate and sustained interventions, adding that the country continues to face the adverse effects of climate change.
Smarteco Global Project further emphasised the need for strategic policies and educational reforms aimed at mitigating climate risks and promoting environmental sustainability.
Reaffirming its commitment, the group pledged to continue supporting initiatives that enhance environmental awareness and build a climate-resilient future for Ghana.
