Ghana Records 9.4% Inflation in September, First Single-Digit in Four Years
October 2,2025
Ghana has achieved single-digit inflation for the first time in four years, with consumer prices easing to 9.4% in September 2025, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
The figure marks a significant drop from 11.5% in August, continuing a nine-month streak of declines. The last time inflation fell below 10% was in August 2021.
GSS attributed the decline mainly to a slowdown in food prices. Food inflation fell sharply to 11% in September, down from 14.8% the previous month. Non-food inflation also edged down slightly to 8.2%, compared to 8.7% in August.
The development means Ghana has already beaten the government’s full-year inflation target. Analysts say the decline offers relief to households and businesses that have endured persistent price hikes, while also boosting prospects for monetary policy stability, exchange rate resilience, and stronger consumer confidence in the final quarter of the year.
