A social media post by Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster Selorm Branttie has sparked public debate after serious allegations were made against a Council of State member identified as Maxwell Boakye, popularly known as “Palasco.”
In the Facebook post, Selorm Branttie accused Maxwell Boakye of allegedly supervising the demolition of a residential property located on Nii Torgbor Street in East Legon, Accra. According to the claims, the affected homeowner had reportedly occupied the property for about 20 years before the demolition occurred.
The post further alleged that the demolition was carried out to create space for a tennis court and parking area after the expansion of a nearby private residence. Claims were also made that land guards were present during the incident and allegedly intimidated residents who attempted to intervene.
Additionally, the social media commentary alleged that the homeowner was assaulted during the confrontation, while individuals recording the incident reportedly issued threats to concerned residents.
The allegations have since generated reactions online, with many social media users calling for investigations into the matter and protection of property rights.
As of the time of publication, Maxwell Boakye has not publicly responded to the allegations, and no official statement has been issued by the authorities regarding the claims.
The incident has renewed conversations about land disputes, demolitions, and the activities of land guards in parts of Accra as well as abuse of power.
