Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana Declares Nationwide Strike Over Unresolved Issues
February 5,2026
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially declared a nationwide strike, directing all its members within the Civil Service and Local Government Service to stay at home until further notice.
In a statement dated March 5, 2026, and signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the association indicated that the decision follows unresolved concerns raised earlier with the government.
According to the statement, the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG had previously issued a notice on February 19, 2026, signaling its intention to embark on industrial action if the outstanding issues were not addressed.
With the matters still unresolved, the association has directed all staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service across the country to stay at home effective Monday, March 9, 2026, until further notice.
The directive applies to all CLOGSAG members nationwide, including regional secretariats, as the association intensifies efforts to press for the resolution of its concerns.
CLOGSAG’s industrial action is expected to affect operations across several government institutions and departments, as the association represents a significant portion of administrative and local government staff in the country.
