Nana Aba Anamoah Scores Mahama for First Year in Office

February 22,2026

Renowned media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has rated President John Dramani Mahama between 75% and 80% for his first year back in office, describing the administration’s performance as largely positive.

Speaking on Showbiz A–Z monitored by vistanewsgh on Saturday, February 21, 2026, she said the President’s return under the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has brought renewed economic stability and a more measured style of leadership.

Her comments come as the administration marks its first anniversary following the January 2025 transition.

Economic Stability Highlighted

Central to her assessment was what she described as a significant turnaround in the country’s economic fortunes. She commended both President Mahama and the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, for stabilising the economy after what she characterised as a turbulent period in the final years of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

“I think that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has stabilised the economy… I think his Finance Minister is doing an excellent job. The economy is doing very well now compared to the last three, four years. Things were quite turbulent,” she stated.

Shift in Leadership Style

Beyond economic performance, Nana Aba also pointed to what she sees as a change in tone from government officials. She criticised the previous administration for what she described as arrogance and dismissiveness toward journalists and the public.

According to her, the current government’s appointees have shown greater humility and responsiveness, a shift she believes reflects lessons learned from Mahama’s first term between 2012 and 2017.

“I think that the second coming of JM is a great one. He’s learned his lessons… things are different now,” she noted.

Praise for Key Ministers

She singled out the Gender Minister, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, for her consistent engagement on social issues, particularly her visits to hospitals. She also applauded Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for his accessibility and digital engagement.

While acknowledging that the administration is still early in its four-year mandate, Nana Aba expressed optimism about the government’s trajectory.

“The trajectory looks good. It looks positive and I’m very happy with the work they’re doing so far,” she concluded.

Her endorsement represents a notable vote of confidence from a prominent media voice, even as expectations remain high for the administration as it enters its second year.
