GES Secures Approval to Pay Salary Arrears to Staff in Instalments

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that approval has been granted for the payment of salary arrears to eligible staff, following clearance from the Ministry of Finance.
According to an official directive dated April 20, 2026, the arrears covering the period from August 1, 2024, to November 2025, will be paid by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD).
GES management indicated that the payments will be made in instalments, with staff expected to receive their arrears over a scheduled period spanning several months. The arrangement is intended to ensure a smooth and structured disbursement process.
Regional Directors have been instructed to communicate the development to all Heads of Schools to ensure that affected staff are duly informed.
The announcement is expected to bring relief to many education sector workers who have been awaiting the settlement of outstanding salary arrears.
