President Mahama Appoints Musah Ahmed as Ghana's 17th Judicial Secretary

The Judicial Service of Ghana has announced the appointment of Mr. Musah Ahmed as the country's new Judicial Secretary, making him the 17th person to hold the position since the First Republic.

The appointment, which takes effect immediately, was approved by President John Dramani Mahama, acting on the advice of the Judicial Council and in accordance with Article 148 of the 1992 Constitution.

Mr. Ahmed was formally sworn into office on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, by the Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, in a ceremony that marked the official commencement of his duties.

Mr. Ahmed assumes the role from Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh, who had been serving as acting Judicial Secretary since April 2025. The transition represents a new chapter for the Judicial Service as it continues to strengthen Ghana's justice delivery system.

The newly appointed Judicial Secretary brings over 25 years of legal expertise to the position. He has been in private legal practice as the Chief Executive Officer of Ahmed Legal Consult, where he has built a reputation for excellence across multiple areas of law.

Mr. Ahmed's academic credentials reflect a strong foundation in legal scholarship. He holds an LL.M in National Security Law from the University of Ghana, demonstrating his commitment to continuous professional development.

His outstanding performance during his legal education earned him recognition as the Best Student in Advocacy and Legal Ethics from the Ghana School of Law in 1999, an achievement that foreshadowed his distinguished legal career.

The Judicial Service expressed confidence in Mr. Ahmed's ability to lead the administrative arm of the judiciary effectively. According to the Service, he is expected to bring his core values of integrity, excellence, and service to his new role.
